The very auspicious Mandala Pooja of Shree Ayyappa Temple, Panvel was started in the year 1982 with the help of few devotees. Ever since then, this auspicious event is traditionally celebrated every year on 24th December. Shree Ayyappa Seva Sangham Panvel was formed and registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act vide Society no. MS/264/86(Raigad) and Public Trust No. F940(Raigad) in the year 1986.
The Sangham thereafter purchased a plot from CIDCO at sector 13, New Panvel with the help of funds raised through public contribution for the construction of the temple. Constructing the foundation of the temple was the utmost desire of thousands of devotees. The main focus was on the development of land for the construction of the temple. To achieve this purpose, an Asthamangala Prasna was held at the temple site in the presence of the most revered Brahmsri Maheswararu Kandararu Thantri, Thantri of Sabarimala Shree Ayyappa Temple and Shri Kanippayur Krishnan Namboodiripad, an authority on temple architecture.They facilitated in the construction of Shree Ayyappa Temple along with four Upadeva Temples. The position and design of the dieties was done by the vaasthu expert Shree Kanipayur Shankaran Namboodiri. A long cherished dream of devotees in and around Panvelwas fulfilled by the installation of deities Lord Ayyappa, Lord Ganesh, Lord Siva, Lord Guruvayurappan and Devi by Brahma Shree Kanttararu Maheswararu Thantri, the supreme priest of Sabarimala Temple.
Ayyappa Temple is located in New Panvel, Navi Mumbai, Raigad district . Lord Ayyappa is the presiding deity with Lord Vishnu (Guruvayurappa) , Lord Ganapathy, Devi Durga and Lord Shiva as supporting deities. Navagraha prastishta was also included at the Temple complex. Thus, in accordance with the Deva Prasana, the construction was taken on hand, first for the temple building. Shri Kanippayur Krishnan Namboodiripad was entrusted with starting the work for five Sreekovila idols and Navagrahas in Kerala. After completion of the entire work , the Prathishtas of 5 deities were conducted on Feb14, 1998 by Brahmashri Maheswararu Thanthri, chief priest of Sabarimala,and the temples were declared open to the public. Subsequently, Navgraha Prathishthas were conducted by the Thanthri
Lord Ayyappa is a perfect embodiment of compassion and grace. Visiting Sabarimala temple, taking his darshan with love and devotion enhances the morale of the devotees and his blessings make an end to human sufferings. Staunch devotee of Lord Ayyappa should visit the Sabarimala templeto receive the grace of God and lead a better and meaningful life. Aiming at this noble cause and keeping in mind the difficulties faced by the devotees to visit the old Sabarimala temple, a few people residing in Panvel decided to construct the Ayyappa temple at Panvel for the devotees staying in Navi Mumbai.
